Design Insider had the opportunity to visit The Whiteley London, sitting in the exquisite bar space at Six Senses London, to speak with Maolíosa Murray, one of an elite group of designers selected for the Designer Collection within this landmark development.
The 2,756 sq ft, two-bedroom duplex is part of The Whiteley’s Designer Collection, a curated set of residences by leading designers inside the Grade II-listed former department store on Queensway.
The bespoke residence marks the latest addition to The Designer Collection, with elegant interiors hidden behind The Whiteley’s Grade II-listed façade. The Whiteley, founded over a century ago by its namesake William Whiteley as London’s first department store, and now reimagined as a landmark residential and hospitality destination, today unveils a spectacular duplex residence by Irish interior designer Maolíosa Murray.
Set across two exceptional levels, the apartment is defined by soaring six metre ceilings, and dramatic lead-arch windows, flooding the space with natural light. Fundamental to Maolíosa Murry’s design at The Whiteley lies a deeply personal narrative that lends the apartment its distinctive character.
Following a £3bn makeover by Foster + Partners, The Whiteley is now home to 139 apartments. To date 76% of residences have sold. The latest two-bedroom duplex apartment to be launched was designed by Maolíosa Murray with Art Deco influences and is on the market for £8.95m.
